Day #15: Saturday, April 22, 1995
134,631 Miles

I left the motel at 10:30, then went to the subway ("MARTA" -- Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) parking lot.

11:05 AM - 11:30 AM After putting on my new raincoat (I had bought it before I left home, but had never used it), I went inside the MARTA station. Bought 4 tokens. Then went on my first subway ride since leaving Bombay ten years ago. The trains were the same as in Bombay -- dirty and WET. But they were not too crowded -- probably because this was a rainy Saturday. There were a lot of empty seats, but I was still standing for the entire ride -- the seats were wet because some IDIOT had left the windows open overnight and the rain came in through the windows! What kind of an idiot would do such a thing?

12:30 PM Arrived at "World of Coca-Cola". . The museum was very impressive. As soon as I entered, I saw the Coca-Cola bottling process simulated in a large model "factory". Then there were all the historical memorabilia of Coca-Cola products sold all over the world. Saw some short films about the rapid popularity growth of the drink and the "Hollywoodizing" of the drink. There was one entire corridor where the flags of all countries where Coca-Cola products are sold were displayed. But I had not even been to the BEST part of the museum. In the very end, I came to a room with eight very interesting fountains. The point was to drink as much of and as many Coca-Cola products that you wanted! They were all there. Free. Besides those eight "interesting" fountains, there were also 16 more "regular" drink-dispensers in that room. In another adjoining room, there were 36 more regular drink dispensers. The first room had drinks sold worldwide. The second room had drinks sold in all countries around the world EXCEPT the United States. A lot of the drinks were repeated. There were a total of 39 flavors of Coca-Cola drinks in 60 total dispensers. I had all 39 drinks from all 60 dispensers. Then I went back and had some of the drinks that I especially liked. Finally, I tried different combinations of several drinks, including one mixture of all 18 internationally sold Coca-Cola drinks (That mixture tasted a lot like apple juice and soda, with a slight orange and lemon taste! It was nice!).

Then I went to the restroom.

All the drinks that I had were from the same glass. At that time, it was my intention to keep that glass as a souvenir. I still have that glass today.

All 39 flavors of Coca-Cola Drinks that I tasted:
At fountains (I would put my glass under the nozzle, there would be a strange "churning" sound, then the drink would fly out from a central tank [about 10 feet away] and fall directly into the glass!):
    Minute Maid Orange Soda
    Coca Cola Classic (2 fountains)
    Coke II
    diet Coke
    Caffeine-free Diet Coke
    Sprite (2 fountains)
Other drinks in first room:
    Tab
    Olympade
    diet Minute Maid Orange Soda
    Fanta Birch Beer
    Nestea Peach Flavored Sweetened
    Mello Yello
    PowerAde Lemon-Lime Sports Drink
    Fanta Grape
    Fanta Red
    Fresca
    Fanta Strawberry
    Caffeine-free Coca Cola Classic
    Cherry Coke
    Mr. Pibb
    Ramblin' Root Beer
In second room -- drinks sold in all countries except this one (two dispensers each -- I had the same drink from both dispensers -- for all of these. Then tried one mixture of a little bit each from all these drinks):
    Fanta
    Peach (Canada)
    Vegina Beta (Japan)
    Mezzo Mix (Germany)
    Fanta Mango (Germany)
    Fanta Colita (Costa Rica)
    Guaraná Tai (Brazil)
    Fanta Orange (China)
    Fanta Exotique (France)
    Beverly analcolico apertivo (Italy)
    Fanta Tropical (Kenya)
    Fanta Florida (Morocco)
    krest Ginger Ale (Thailand)
Fanta Fruit Punch (Central American countries)
    Mone Honey & Lemon (Japan)
    Lilt (Great Britain)
    lychee mello (Thailand)
    Simba Piña (Paraguay)
    Kinley (Israel)

If you were counting, that is only 59 dispensers. I had mentioned there were 60. The last one had water -- and I drank that too!

I left "The World of Coca-Cola" at 1:30 PM, then went to "Underground Atlanta". Not the subway, but an entire city under the ground -- shops and restaurants. And people. A lot of people. It was raining on the ground above, so everyone was down here. I went to the MARTA "Five Points" station. Took the train to "Omni" station.

3:15 PM - 4:00 PM At CNN Center. . Took off my raincoat before entering. I have never worn it since then! CNN's slogan is,

"When News Happens, You See It Happen". And I saw it happen. The happening news this time was what happened in Oklahoma City a few days ago. Because of that, there were a lot of things happening in the CNN news room, which was a pretty happenin' kinda place. Rain was happening all day, but I was inside, so it didn't happen on me.

[The above paragraph is directly from a postcard I sent to Perry. I think that just about describes what CNN Center was like.]

I left the CNN Center at 4:00 PM, bought a MARTA "Weekend Pass", then took the train (free this time because of the pass) back to Five Points and Underground Atlanta. Bought some Atlanta souvenirs there. Also bought four personalized, engraved key chains on miniature California and New Jersey license plates. After that, I took subway rides everywhere around Atlanta, simply because they were now free. I got back to the car just before sunset, then drove around Atlanta, simply because I had nothing else to do. At 9:00 PM, I went inside a "Target" and gave two more film rolls for developing, then bought six more rolls.

Day #16: Sunday, April 23, 1995
134,733 Miles

Yesterday was a long and tiring day. Today I took it easy. Checked out of the motel at 11:20 AM. Ate lunch.

1:35 PM - 4:00 PM Took the train from Doraville station --> Five Points station --> East Line station --> Five Points station --> Doraville station. This, combined with what I had rode on yesterday, completed my trip on the entire Atlanta subway system.

4:30 PM Checked in at La Quinta Inn in Tucker, GA. Next to the inn was a Dennys restaurant. They had a special for La Quinta Inn customers -- "Show your room card-key and receive 10% discount." So I went there for dinner. I ordered an apple pie for dessert, and the waiter forgot to put that in the bill. I told him about it, and he said to forget about it -- "Go ahead. The pie is for free." So I got a free slice of an apple pie, and also a 10% off my bill.

Day #17: Monday, April 24, 1995
134,788 Miles

5:30 AM Woke up. Had free breakfast, then checked out at 10:30.

10:40 AM Arrived at Stone Mountain State Park. . The granite mountain has a carving of (among other people) General Robert E. Lee on his horse. The carving is larger than the one on Mount Rushmore. Impressive. But only impressive. Not impressive. I took a train ride around the mountain. There was also a skylift to the top, but it was too windy that day, so the skylift was closed. Left Stone Mountain Park at 1:00 PM.

At 1:20 PM, I came back to the Target where I had given my photos to be developed. They would not be ready until 5:00 PM, so I roamed around the plaza, browsing in all the shops. The last time I was on the phone with Bhindi Jewelers, I had been told that there was an Indian restaurant in that plaza. I was looking for it, but did not find it. Ate lunch at Taco Bell. I left the Atlanta area at 5:25 after looking at all the photos.

7:50 PM Gas fill-up and dinner at Dennys in Cordele, GA. Left Cordele at 8:50 PM.

10:25 PM Night-time. Entered the "Sunshine State" (Florida). 135068 Miles. The last time I entered the "Sunshine State" (on Trip #1), it was raining! I can't figure out why that state is called "The Sunshine State"! That nickname should belong solely to California! California no longer deserves its present nickname anyway!

1:00 AM At rest area on I-75 between exits 67 and 68 (South of Ocala). Went to sleep.

Day #18: Tuesday, April 25, 1995
135,189 Miles

7:15 AM Woke up. Left rest area at 7:40. Drove North to Ocala.

8:00 AM Arrived at Ocala's Disney Visitor Center. Closed.

8:25 AM Entered Florida Turnpike to go to Orlando. On my last trip I had bought a "5-day Walt Disney World Pass". I had used four of those days. The fifth day was today.

I parked at the Magic Kingdom parking lot in Walt Disney World, then took the monorail to EPCOT Center -- for the third time. I enjoyed it thoroughly, but I already knew I would. Towards the end of the day, just before the night-time laser show, I fell sick. Really sick. Weak. I wanted to see the laser show, but since I had already seen it twice before, I decided to "let it go", go back to the car, find a motel room, and get some rest. Left EPCOT Center at 9:00 PM, then Walt Disney World a short time later. Rating for EPCOT = .

10:00 PM Checked in at Ramada Inn in Kissimmee, FL. By the time I got to the inn, I was completely exhausted and felt very ill. Went right to sleep, hoping I'd feel better the next morning.

Expenses:
$5 Cash Parking -- Walt Disney World Kissimmee, FL
$18 Cash Total for food at EPCOT Center (mainly junk food -- a lot of French pastries) Kissimmee, FL
$80 ATM Cash Withdrawal @ EPCOT Kissimmee, FL

Day #19: Wednesday, April 26, 1995
135,292 Miles

No such luck. Felt just as miserable in the morning as last night. Had the motel's free breakfast early in the morning, then checked out at 11:30 AM. Went to lunch at McDonalds, filled gas in the car, then left Orlando city limits at 12:45 PM.

At West Palm Beach:
2:40 PM Sunshine in the Sunshine State.
2:41 PM Torrential rain in the Sunshine State.
2:44 PM Sunshine in the Sunshine State.

I was starting to feel a little better by the time I got to West Palm Beach, mainly because of the memories of my last trip [my second encounter with the police on that trip was in West Palm Beach, and that was quite hilarious! Ah, pleasant memories!]

I ate an early dinner at a Dennys there, then continued driving South to the town of Florida City, FL. Checked in at Rodeway Inn in Florida City. Feeling better than last night, but still not completely recovered yet.
