Selected Trip Journal entries:

The last showerhead was good in both Tok and Skagway! Everywhere else on this trip, they're consuming far too much water!!

9:30 AM = Checked out on a bright and sunny day! 7231.9 trip miles. 16289 total.

9:45/7233.0 = End of the road; there are 4 ships here too, but not crowded at all!

Some crowds later, but not as bad as Juneau... left Skagway @ 10:43/7235.4 -- but I'm not done yet!

10:44/7236.2 = Turned left on Dyea Road (Chilkoot Trail)

11:15 = End of the raod. 7243.2 miles. This is/was the start of the Chilkoot Trail in 1897-98 gold rush.

Wrong...

11:24/7244.6 = The real end of the road. Turned around.

11:48/7252.9 = Back to Klondike Hwy SOUTH towards Skagway. Bought lunch and dinner here instead of in Whitehorse. Also sold EXTR ESPP!

Skagway needs another day of exploration, but not on this trip -- it is a GORGEOUS town! Need to do helicopter tour + White Pass & Yukon railroad + Chilkoot trail hike.

12:25 Alaska time/7257.4 = Left Skagway -- for now...

1:32 PM Pacific time/7261.6 = Home. (as proclaimed yesterday)... I'll be back to Alaska tomorrow!

1:50/7269.6 = White Pass Summit/U.S. Canada border. Canadian Customs is 12km from here...

SPECTACULAR scenery all along this road -- I'm definitely coming back here later. This is a 1-week + weekend roadtrip from San Jose (9 days).

2:02 = Canadian customs. 7277 miles
2:04 = Out of it. Standard questions

Now for lunch... with good music and great scenery! Took my shoes off and I'm back in roadtrip mode!

2:34/7304.3 = Entered "Canada's True North: Yukon"

3:04/7320.6 = Turned right on Hwy 8 towards Tagish ...

3:23/7339.5 = Tagish. That was a great "driving road"!

3:40/7353.9 = Joined Alaska Highway South. No dirt road! Hwy 8 was all paved! (at the Fairbanks=1094km sign). Watson Lake is 361km from here... It took me 4 hours 1 minute on July 19. There's an 8PM show at the Northern Lights Theater -- hopefully I'll reach there on time for that. I'm anticipating only 1 restroom stop and the same construction zones along the way. So for now, just sitting back, driving, listening to some new CD's, and enjoying the view.. No pictures. There've been enough already! (exception: bears)

4:07 = 7381.7 = The clock is counting down 167 seconds (as I stopped) for Teslin River bridge crossing -- single lane because of construction.

"Girls just wanna have lunch..."

4:17/7389.5 = I'm gonna start waving at all the other drivers and see who waves back.

4:47/7414.5 = Crossing Nisutlin Bay bridge. I need to buy windshield washer fluid.

5:08/7439.2 = Beautiful British Columbia welcomed me, but NOT ONE driver has waved back yet!

5:39/7479.2 = A very modest sign "You are entering Yukon" -- for the last time I'll be doing so on this trip.

7:08=7575.7 = Watson Lake Hotel!
