Selected Trip Journal entries:

11:22 AM = Started car. Have to do a few things like gas & food before leaving Tok for... HAINES, ALASKA!! (I'm trying not to think about the other place along the way, but then I shouldn't have written this...) 6407.0 trip miles. 15464 total.

11:35 Alaska Time = 6407 = Alaska Highway South.

2:07 PM Pacific Time = 6496.7 = Left Alaska for the first time, and entered "my land" (as declared on July 20). I'm home...

On this trip, the first 3238.3 miles were to reach Alaska, then the next 3258.4 (+103) miles were within the great state... so far... not counting the miles to Prudhoe Bay that I didn't drive.

2:39 PM = 6513.7 = Left home and entered Canada. I was told "Welcome, and have a safe trip" -- so nice of 'em!!

3:25/6546.2 = Feels like I can just reach up and touch the clouds! I'm putting on "rain music"...

3:28/6548.9 = White River crossing. They lied -- it's brown!

4:45/6621.6 = 5 horses.

6:32/6698.0 = Left Haines Junction on Hwy 3 South. "Next services 203 km". ALASKA HERE I COME!!!

7:55/6732.2 = Was welcomed by "Super, Natural, British Columbia"

8:12/6779 = Was that another hawk or a falcon or a golden eagle? I don't know which but it was BIG and FAST!

8:25 Pacific Time/6790.6 = Haines Highway Summit (el. 1070 m)

7:47 Alaska Time = 6809.6 miles = Back to ALASKA!!! The tripod fell off the car hood and broke a leg :-( The border agent gave me some good info though -- these guys really are fantastic -- NOTHING like on I-5 at Vancouver!! Left the border at 7:56/6809.8... I'm in Alaska!! (aaagain)

This is the "Valley of the Eagles" -- largest known concentration of bald eagles in the world -- I haven't seen any so far, but apparantly they all migrate here in November. Still should see them now...

8:52/6848.8 = Was welcomed to Haines, Alaska.
