Subject: A lazy day and a charming evening...

Buona sera,

I went to sleep at about 4 or 5 am this morning, and woke up at 4pm! By the
time I finally decided to head out (more from hunger than anything else), it
was after dark...

I took the metro to the Duomo, the main cathedral in the center of Milano. It's
an imposing gothic cathedral, and looks even larger than it really is because
of the tiny piazza around it. Climbing out of the metro station, I noticed a
sign on a shop that read "...teria". Wow, just my luck, I was starving and
there was a gelateria right outside the metro exit! I was thrilled!!

Wrong. That was a "lotteria" shop.

:-(

All the normal restaurants around the courtyard were packed, and some of the
fast food places had lines stretching outside! I ended up buying a sandwhich
from a street vendor and gobbled it down pretty quick before taking some
pictures of the massive Duomo and Milan's christmas tree (not exactly
Rockerfeller Center christmas tree but oh well...) -- everything was lit or had
lights shining on them. Then the main course, a few strolls around the piazza,
and finally the metro back to the hotel..

So no train rides to far-off places today -- it was a fairly slow and lazy day.
Tomorrow I'm off to Venizia. I still haven't seen the Last Supper painting,
which I wanted to see here, but I guess I'll either go there either tomorrow
morning or on the 29th or the 2nd when I'm back in Milano... unless I go
somewhere else instead.

Till then, ciao...
-me. (p.s. yes I bought a new camera. yes I'm repeating all my trips to take all
those pictures again with this camera. no I'm not bringing back any italian ice
cream. yes i'm an inch shorter and no its not fuzzy. and the pictures are all
at http://www.callmewanderer.com/eur0607 if you click on the Dec 25 and Dec 26 links.)
