My flight was scheduled for 10:30 AM, and I checked out of the hotel
just a little after 8 AM. When I walked down to the terminal, there was
a long line for the American Airlines check-in.
I did something I've always thought about doing but never did, and
after I got my gold membership on American miles, I've wanted to do it
even more -- sign up for Admirals Club membership. I figured I fly so
much anyway nowadays, I might as well sign up for that!
I went to the admirals club in Frankfurt airport, signed up, and
used their first service immediately -- checked into my flight and
got my boarding pass! No line.
Well, that was not all....
The lady behind the counter said that today's flight to Dallas is fully
booked, and she was upgrading me to Business class on the international flight!
That is where I am right now as I'm typing this - aisle seat 10D in business
class on a Boeing 777 - American's flagship plane! And I'm watching Seabiscuit.
One slightly not-so-good thing - it was snowing at the airport in the morning,
and the plane was 1 1/2 hours late at the gate to be de-iced. So it's scheduled
to arrive at Dallas 1 1/2 hours late, which means I'll miss my connecting flight.
Not too much of a problem though... there are two other flights to San Jose later
tonight.
So now I'm going to close this web journal and enjoy the rest of my flight ;)
