First of all, I want to apologize to all my male
cousins (and anyone else to whom this applies) for
making all the songs from "Sound of Music" getting
stuck in your heads.
Iīm sorry.
Secondly, I am, and I quote, "a big big big fat greasy
hippo" (did i get that right?)
I have not had any lunch or dinner today. i HAVE had
about somewhere between 10 and 20 different varieties
of pastries in many of the cafes of Vienna. One of the
highlights has been a cream-puff/dumpling kind of a
thing with strawberry jam on the side. The kind of
thing that puts "Death by Chocolate" in Vancouver to
shame... I donīt know exactly how many cafes i visited
-- itīs all kind of a blur. There were a lot!
I did visit the Stephansdom cathedral and its tower
view of the city. Also walked around quite a lot up
and down Karntnerstrasse, which is the main tourist
pedestrian street in the city, full of cafes on both
sides offering the most delicious pastries... among
other things also, but I didnīt have any of those.
I havenīt seen too much else in the city -- Schonbrunn
palace is supposed to be very nice but I didnīt go
there. I saw the Hofburg Palace (from the outside)...
and the emperorīs gardens.... the parliament
building.... Rathaus.... and iīll admit the name did
make me grin... but i accomplished my mission of
tasting so many different pastries. I may fall sick
tomorrow, but at this point i dont really care! :-D
oh, and my hotel room finally has an a/c, but the tv
doesnt work.
tomorrow is a long drive back to Switzerland, where
Iīll stay for the rest of this trip. I think it also
might rain tomorrow, which will be fantastic 'cuz its
been hot as hell last few days!!!! looking forward to
the mountains of switzerland...
BTW the subject line is from a t-shirt i saw someone
wearing here.
