Subject: A drive down to the ocean, a lesson finally learned from previous christmas days, and one BIG lobster!

Bonsoir,

On Christmas Eve morning, I started driving down from Adelaide, not visiting
the city at all. It's a fun drive, first a freeway through some mountains, then
down to the ocean, where there was a cool breeze, dropping the temperature to a
wonderfully pleasant 20 C! A good break from the instense heat of the outback!

The drive was from Adelaide to Warrnambool -- a coastal city in Southern
Victoria state, at the start of the "Great Ocean Road". Before entering
Victoria, I passed through a town with the biggest lobster I've ever seen! Each
leg of the lobster was twice as long as my car, and the whole thing was about
40-50 feet tall. And it was built right in front of a seafood restaurant. Ok,
so obviously not a real lobster, but quite impressive... and visible for miles
on the highway!

Unfortunately I forgot the name of the town and am too lazy to look it up on
the map now. But if you go there, you can't miss it!

Then entered the Victoria border and drove along near the coast (a couple of
good ocean views) to the town of Warrnambool, where I spent the night.

The next day was Christmas -- which as I had learned from the last 3
christmases on the road, means no open gas stations and no open restuarants. So
I had to "prepare" for that tonight. I filled up beyond-maximum on gas, had a
big dinner, and put in an order at my motel for a big "fully cooked" brekkie
(as opposed to a continental brekkie) -- 2 eggs scrambled, 2 pieces of buttered
toast, 2 pieces of regular bread, 2 sausages, 4 pancakes and maple syrup, and
one bottle of orange juice. All for $18.10 AUD, to be delivered to my room
between 7:30 and 8:00 AM christmas morning.

After placing that order, I tried to dial in to the internet -- to send my
email as always. Well.... a few days ago I couldn't connect to the web because
there was no phone line (in Erldunda).... tonight, my motel had a phone, but no
dial tone! So, every time I picked up the phone, there would be no sound, and
every time I tried to connect with my modem, it would disconnect saying there's
no dial tone!

So I went to sleep.
