"I come from the land down under..."
Last night I wanted to see the aurora borealis but every time I peeked out the window it was still sunlight outside -- till 11:45 PM, then I went to sleep. Strange -- I saw the sun going down at 10:30 -- maybe it hovered there for a while? I'm only 500 miles (approx.) south of the Arctic Circle so not too surprised the day lasts into midnight...
Now to see if my note in the Signpost Forest still exists after 4 years...
11:05/2662.8 = Parked at Signpost Forest.
11:40 = Back to car. The San Jose sign was still the same but my writing from 4 years ago was washed out... :-( I didn't write anything new this time -- didn't have a suitable pen. $52.03 = 41.33 L gas; 2663 miles
11:54 = On the road again... I got bit by mosquitos but its ok -- all part of the trend now! Today will be "new" after Whitehorse. I think I'm gonna call Whitehorse "The Point Of No Return" -- After that, its Alaska or bust! (wont be too difficult -- its only tomorrow...)

1:26/2748.5 = At the Continental Divide.
2:52/2823.8 = Crossing the Nisutlin Bay Bridge over Teslin Lake -- This is the longest bridge on this highway.
3:55-4:00 PM = Saw first "Fairbanks" sign, right where I remember it! 2884.1 trip miles. Fairbanks is 1094 km from here! 678 miles!
Theoretically, I could get there tonight!
4:20/2903 = Now Fairbanks is 1010 km from here...
4:35/2915.4 = Yukon River crossing! Till 4:45/2915.9. First of many crossings of this long river on this trip!
4:55/2922.9 = Passed JCT Hwy 2 (Klondike Hwy), 100 miles/158 km North of Skagway... I'll be back later.
5:04/2932.1 = Took exit for Whitehorse city centre. $25 for today's lunch and dinner and probably tomorrow's lunch too! -- Pizza Hut. $50 = 41.701 L. 2936.5 miles
And now on to Haines Junction, all a new road for me ... I'm passing the point of no return!
5:52/2939.4 = Back on the Alaska highway, (same point I left it), ALASKA-BOUND THIS TIME!!
6:55 = 3000 trip miles..
7:32/3036.2 miles = Entered Haines JCT.
7:45 PM = 3037.3 miles = Arrived at Alcan Motor Inn.
