Selected Trip Journal entries:

10:39 AM = 1600.0 trip miles = On The Road Again.. Alaska Highway, here I come!

11:29/1658 = Today is the last "flat day" of this trip until I reach Las Vegas on August 11 or 12. Starting tomorrow, every day until I reach Vegas has mountain scenery!

11:49/1681 = Entered Edmonton city limits. Canadian capitals visited/driven through so far: Victoria, Edmonton, Regina, Winnipeg, Whitehorse.

I think the next city on this trip of comparable size will be Calgary next month! That makes this the last "city" before Alaska!

12:28/1697.0 = From Hwy 2 North to 16 West towards Dawson Creek ... going North by Northwest!

1:18/1707 = Yellowknife is 1500 km from here, but I'm not going that way.

1:33/1724.5 = Took exit for Hwy 43 North, after a sign that said "Alaska Highway Use Hwy 43" :-)

"I'm so excited I just can't hide it, I'm about to lose control and I think I like it"

(wrong context, but perfect for right now!)

1:57/1751.0 = "Everyday its a lil closer, goin faster than a roller coaster"

In terms of time, I'm half way to Alaska!

3:22/1848.0 = The rain gods are smiling on me, in spite of my having brutally murdered hundreds of bugs in the last 2 hours. This is bug country .... and moose country.

3:43 = A couple of motorcycles from Colorado are in front of me, riding in the rain but completely covered from head to toe.

3:58/1888.8 = The North Woods have turned woodless!!

5:18/1975.9 = Turned right on Hwy 43 towards "Alaska"
5:23/1977.6 = Turned right on Hwy 43 again towards "Alaska". Next stop, Dawson Creek!

"I come from the land down under!" -- This song has a completely new meaning now!! The last time (and the only time) that I was in Dawson Creek was July 30, 2002 -- 1,448 days ago. This time, I'm making it to Alaska -- no job interviews to come back for!!!

5:56 PM = 2000 Trip miles while passing through Beaverlodge, AB

6:11 PM MDT / 2011.1 miles = Opened the Alaska map!!! (I could've done that in Edmonton but oh well)

5:36 PM/2033.3 (Pacific Time zone) = Entered "The Best Place On Earth" -- British Columbia

Its not raining now.... it was raining 1448 days ago. There are parts of Alaska that are south of where I am right now...

"Walk Of Life"

6:08 PM/2054.7 = Entered Dawson Creek city limits at the airport!!!

6:15 PM = Parked at MILE 0!!! "You are now entering the WORLD FAMOUS ALASKA HIGHWAY Dawson Creek, BC" !!!! WOOHOO!
6:48 PM = ON THE ROAD AGAIN! 2057.2 trip miles. I'm now "OFICIALLY" Alaska-bound!

7:12/2076.5 = Can't write anything that would do this moment any justice. I can see the sun's rays coming down from the heavens through a hole in a cloud, and a car from New York just passed me with the passenger giving me a dirty look -- it was deserved, but I really don't care.

7:48 PM/2102.4 = Arrived @ Best Western Coachman Inn, Fort St. John, BC.
